Film Surveys Folk Art at Upstairs Artspace
The last of three films about Southern folk art will be shown at the Upstairs Artspace on Tuesday, March 30, 7 p.m. “All Rendered Truth” documents the art, voices and home environments of self-taught artists in the rural American South. In honest and lively interviews, more than 20 renowned folk artists talk about race, religion and the world.
This is a “must” movie for people who appreciate folk art and want to know more about a disappearing culture. The artists include Jimmy Lee Sudduth, Mose Tolliver, Bernice Sims, Lonnie Holley, R. A. Miller, J. T. (“Jake”) McCord and Lorenzo Scott. Each is exhibiting in the gallery’s current folk art show, “Looking Back, Walking Forward.” Read the full story
