The North Carolina Folk Art Society Visits The Home of Folk Art
Saturday, April 24th, we here at the Home of Folk Art were excited to have the North Carolina Folk Art Society stop in for a visit. On their annual outing (this year to Wilmington, North Carolina) the North Carolina Folk Art Society visited a few key folk art spots in the city, including the Cameron Art Museum, Airlie Garden’s Minnie Evans Bottle Chapel, and with us to see and hear more about local visionary artist Minnie Evans. The North Carolina Folk Art Society is a very knowledgeable group of people that include not just collectors, but artists, authors, and art dealers as well. And, come to find out, not all the members reside in North Carolina. Some members traveled from as far as Alabama and Washington D.C. to join us last weekend. We were truly honored to have had such a wonderful group pay us a visit.

Thanks to Christian and Michelle for hosting the North Carolina Folk Art Society last weekend. We enjoyed libations and good food while taking in the Daniel’s folk art collection, including the largest private collection of Minnie Evans. The Daniel’s collection of Minnie Evans was complimented by American furniture, Americana, stoneware, nautical paintings, flags and wooden trade signs. Christian generiously donated funds from his Minnie Evans book sales to local Wilmington charities and the North Carolina Folk Art Society.
